Put Your Shoulder To The Wheel

I am a lazy person by nature. I enjoyed making this arrangement on a song with a message that goes against my natural tendencies. The song's message about getting engaged in the Lord's work is inspiring and uplifting. I wanted the song to be lighter and more of an 'encouraging reminder', rather than a 'stern lecture', for people like me. It is easy to get discouraged in the Lord's work because it is so daunting. As I get older, I'm realizing the power of the principle of 'small and simple things'. We don't need to move the mountain all in one day, but rather just stay engaged and work at it in whatever capacity we have each day. Over time, those small and simple efforts will allow us to achieve great things. I arranged this tune to try to be that consistent, gentle reminder for all of us to stay engaged in the Lord's work. Do a little bit each day and see how the Lord can bring great things to pass with daily, consistent efforts. Here's some of my favorite phrases from the song:

The world has need of willing men...
The Church has need of helping hands...
Come, help the good work move along...
The work to do is here for you
Put your shoulder to the wheel...

Then don't stand idly looking on,
The fight with sin is real...
Then work and watch and fight and pray with all your might and zeal...
Put your shoulder to the wheel...
Do your duty with a heart full of song.
